New Rochelle teen killed in daytime shooting

On Tuesday, Jan. 25 at about 3:38 p.m., New Rochelle police received a call of a shooting that had just occurred on the corner of 4th Street and Washington Avenue. Upon arrival officers located a 16-year-old male victim, Julian Oliveros, with multiple gunshot wounds. Officers administered First Aid and the victim was transported to a hospital where he underwent emergency surgery and succumbed to his injures.

Suspect information was immediately developed, and New Rochelle detectives were able to locate and arrest a 16-yearold male suspect near Glen Place and Beechwood Avenue. The suspect was found to be in possession of a 9mm semiautomatic handgun.

Due to juvenile arrest laws in New York state, the suspect’s name is still being withheld. He was charged with Murder in the second degree and Criminal
Possession of a weapon in the second degree.
